2015 Solutions & 2016 Resolutions
Healthcare is an ever-evolving field for technology. With emerging technologies that are more and more available to the average consumer, it feels as if we are continually on the brink of the next big app or device that will change the way we encounter healthcare. As we begin 2016, it is worth taking a moment to reflect on some of our 2015 accomplishments at PointClear that are helping to further evolve how doctors and patients engage with the delivery of healthcare.
In early 2015, we helped to launch an enormous “green-field” application that we spent two years designing and developing. It enables patients to receive a cost estimate for their visit at the time of their visit. This application also allows them to make online payments or set up a personalized electronic payment plan to easily manage payments over time.
In the summer of 2015, we re-envisioned a patient’s surgical journey via a responsive application. Prior to surgery, a tailored visualization is presented to the patient that allows them to understand their pre- and post-surgery journey, empowering them to actively participate in their own recovery. Their physician and care team could not only customize this journey but also support the patient through it. The application brought insight to both parties, improving communication and furthering the reach of the healthcare experience post patient discharge.
On the IoT front, we built a native mobile app (iOS & android) that connects to an insertable cardiac monitor (ICM) via Bluetooth. The mobile app pulls the data from the ICM then pushes it to the cloud for access via the clinician’s portal. The patient can also use the app to real-time record a potential cardiac event.
This past fall, we were charged with redesigning the supply chain flow from various distribution points within a hospital to the point of use (bedside, surgery, etc.) with the patient. We had many goals to achieve: How can we improve restocking supplies? How can we get the supplies to the point of care more quickly? And, how can the hospital better maintain real-time supply levels and more efficiently share supplies across departments? This effort enabled us to further understand how technology could be pushed to ultimately improve patient care.
These are just a few examples of how PointClear is “solving digital healthcare’s biggest challenges.” We do this for all of our clients through our world-class User Experience methods, our ability to translate healthcare’s needs into action, and using technology to innovate around solving healthcare’s biggest pain points. We look forward to 2016 and continuing to create the most valuable experiences within healthcare.
